Pharmaceutical professionals from across the world will descend upon Abu Dhabi tomorrow (Monday 3rd) for the opening of CPhI Middle East & Africa, the region’s leading platform for the pharmaceutical industry.
The event is making its regional debut in the UAE and will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 3-5 September 2018. CPhI is the region’s leading platform bringing together pharma ingredients, product manufacturers, suppliers and buyers covering every step of the pharma supply chain from drug research and discovery to finished dosage.
“The pharma market in the UAE and the wider Middle East and Africa region is witnessing a bullish period with research indicating the MENA pharma market is set to significantly increase in value to over US$44 billion by 2020. The exhibition is designed to increase partnerships and business opportunities on both a local and international level and to further increase the value of the market in this region.

The exhibition is broken down into five distinct sectors of the pharmaceutical industry:
- CPhI: Brings together buyers, manufacturers and suppliers of pharmaceutical ingredients
- FDF: Meet with manufacturers from every aspect of the finished dosage supply chain
- ICSE: Connects the pharma community with CRO and CMO companies and technologies
- P-MEC: Showcases the newest pharmaceutical machinery, equipment and technology providers
- InnoPack: Hosts the latest innovations in packaging, integrated solutions and drug delivery systems
The exhibition will also feature Live Pharma Connect, a free service open to visitors and exhibitors allowing both parties to make pre-arranged pharma specific, mutually beneficial meetings during the event.
Running in parallel to the exhibition will be a range of content sessions addressing the latest trends in the market, a range of keynote addresses, as well as a host of networking opportunities.
A total of 19 sessions are scheduled for the three-day showcase, with the opening session on day one ‘Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030: Advancing the UAE pharmaceutical sector’ taking place from 10.30am, with a high-profile panel including: Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Managing Director of Dubai Science Park and Amjad Qandil, Professor and Quality Unit Chairman, College of Pharmacy at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Science.

On day two a session will be dedicated to the Egyptian pharma market with discussions centred on regulation, investment and registration of new drugs, from 10.30am. Leading the discussion is Dr Awad Gabr, Chairman and Managing Director of Sedico Pharmaceutical Manufacturer and Pharma Sector Advisor at ExpoLink; Reham Alassily, Regulatory Affairs Manager; and Yasmin Mohammad Ragaey, Manager Technical Office & Manager Pharmaceutical Supply Dep, Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs (CAPA), Egyptian Drug Authority, MoH Egypt.
The final day will be dominated by the Saudi pharma market, with Dr Faisal BinDail Chairman of the national Committee for Pharmaceutical Industries, Council of Saudi, starting at 11am.
Hot topics of discussion on the show floor will include the key drivers behind the MEA pharma market, including the growth of the population, greater investment and spending in healthcare from governments, western lifestyle influence on health such as obesity and chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and oncology.
