As part of its commitment to contributing to The Year of Reading in the UAE, through driving the creation of a generation of book lovers, while consolidating the UAE’s position as a global capital for culture and knowledge, Yas Mall, will be hosting its first Reading Fair from 27th – 30th April 2016, to engage children and families from all ages.


The Reading Fair will welcome visitors from across all Emirates, as well as students from Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and Aldar Academies, who will be making their way down to Yas Mall on Wednesday, April 27th and Thursday, April 28th 2016 to enjoy this inspiring experience with many activities and promotions offered by key retailers in the mall.

Mr. Abdulla Abdull kareem Al Raeesi, Abu Dhabi Reads Deputy Committee Head and ADEC’s Strategic Communications and Media Acting Division Manager lauded the interactive initiative, which will help entice passion for reading further. “We are delighted to support Yas Mall in this exciting event, which will gather students of all age groups from across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as well as their families to jointly take part in different fun-loving reading and poetry activities. Our aim is encourage youth to develop passion for reading from their early years, which will help pave the way for them in other subjects and fields in the future. Our knowledge based economy requires a well-read and literate generation, and that can only happen through constant reading, research and information gathering.”

Borders Bookstore will provide 1000 books in both English and Arabic for readers to access. In addition, the mall will host poem competitions where children will be judged by local writers and have the chance to win some exciting prizes from borders and other stores.

Moreover, Rogos and Fun Works will be providing exciting experience to students, and Medeor Medical Center will offer free eye tests to all the Yas Mall visitors, during the days of the Reading Fair.

As part of this enriching experience of the Reading Fair, Yas Mall will be welcoming renowned local authors from across the Emirates, who will be hosting a variety of educational activities and will be speaking to the students and visitors throughout the four days of the fair.
