In a parent-led initiative, The Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD) organized its annual Ramadan charity drive in the spirit of the Happiness Ministry’s ‘100 Days of Giving’ programme that encourages UAE students to partake in acts of kindness. The whole school participated, with the children in preparing and distributing care packages for laborers working on the construction of new buildings for the coming school year.

The packages included essential toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap bars and shampoo as well as additional food items such as milk, juice and dates, and a prepaid phone card.  Students assembled care packages in a recycled bag, ready to donate it to the construction workers.

Beat Sommer, Head of School at SISD said: “Our yearly Ramadan charity drive aims to build a culture of empathy and awareness, teach our children about the importance of charity and spread happiness among different communities. Since the launch of the Year of Giving by the UAE’s leadership, we have witnessed a renewed vigor in initiatives for good. It is a great lesson for our international students who come from all over the world.”

Our school offers the full continuum International Baccalaureate (IB) programme from Pre-KG to Grade 9 (Grade 10 opening in 2017*) in English or in two bilingual English-French and English-German sections. We believe in having high standards; encouraging our students to stretch themselves to achieve success, unlocking talents and discovering new strengths.

In June 2016, we received the Happy Healthy School award by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) for our school-wide initiatives aimed at improving healthy eating, active living and a positive environment. Our large eco-friendly campus ensures that we can offer a wide range of sporting facilities, including water sports that make the most of our location adjacent to Dubai Creek.
